Nativo di New York, il gruppo Indeep, fondato da Michael Cleveland autore dei brani, è il classico esempio di One Shot.
Nel 1983 il brano "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life" tratto dall'omonimo album è l'unico testimone degno di nota.
Il sound del gruppo è chiaramente intriso di riferimenti alla disco-music degli anni '70.
Il gruppo riesce comunque a pubblicare nel corso degli anni '80 una manciata di singoli tutti tratti dall'album: "When Boys Talk", "Buffalo Bill" e soprattutto "The Record Keeps Spinning", con suoni che si avvicinano sempre di più al rap.
Nel 1991 viene pubblicato un Best of contenente 23 brani tra i più significativi della loro storia.
